These cookies were AWESOME. Sadly I ate about three of them and then I woke up and couldn’t taste anything. So I packaged them up and left them at my neighbours doors. Sigh. A few were saved for my friend Jordan who coined the name “The Everything Cookie”. My original plan was to make Oatmeal Raisin cookies because I thought my supply of *CC’s was down.  I found the recipe of choice from The Rabbit Food Cookbook and while compiling my dry ingredients it called for coconut! Coconut makes me go wild with love and excitement so naturally I remembered the vegan butterscotch chips that I have been sitting on. While digging those out I found about 1/4 cup of CC’s!

On that day I also fixed myself some Avocado Piit-zzas on Ezekiel bread. Normally these look more like pizzas as they are meant to be prepared on pitas, hence the “Piit-zza” title. However, they are also quite tasty on Sesame Ezekiel.

Avocado Piit-zzas on Ezekiel Bread

Mashed garlic avocado, thin slices of red onion, shredded carrot drizzled in Asian Wassabi Oil, and dashed with freshly dried cilantro, S&P. Toasted in the oven until browned. Some day you’ll all get the deetz when I make them look proper on pita!

Today I peeled and sliced up apples for a pie and ended up neglecting them for a sudden rush for RICE KRISPIE SQUARES!!!

Yeah, I’ve been sitting on a bag of Dandies from the Chicago Soy Dairy. Whateva, I do what I want.  Finally picked up some crisp rice when I was out and about this week, and I had just enough Earth Balance in the back of my fridge. Hiding, waiting, holding out for the Dandies.

Indulgences

Making your own food is great and all, but we are spoiled here in Halifax for vegan delights. How are we supposed to resist all of the local, organic, seasonal, and highly savory meals dangled like golden carrots right before our very eyes and stomachs? I obviously don’t know, giving in is a favourite passtime of mine.

Vegan Creme Brulee

Yes, this is how spoiled we are here in Halifax! Tofu based custard of the heavens above, perfectly scorched crisp sugary top, and drizzles of orange, raspberry, and strawberry so you can personalise each bite. Big thanks to The Wooden Monkey!

Roasted Vegetable Pizza

Morris East never disappoints. On a perfectly crisp, thin wood fired crust (gluten free available) sits a sweet and savoury tomato sauce, sautéed onions, mushrooms, fresh basil, and sliced baby zucchini. The bottle in the back to the left is Morris East’s in house spicy oil. This oil is the ultimate accompaniment to their pizzas.
